As I stepped off the plane and saw the sunshine all it could say is "WOW" it was just an incredible experience from getting to see all of the amazing girls who competed for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2011. One of the first events I went to as Lady in Waiting was the kick-off party which was very interesting from the girls all walking in with their state flags and then having to explain why they wore the outfit they did. At this event was where I first got to meet several of the other Lady's in Waiting which is nice to get to know the girls I will be spending all year with. The next day was the Lady in Waiting pizza and bowling party which was so much fun even though I did win bowling with only a 123, I guess for not bowling for 3 years that's not to bad:).
Wednesday night it's time for the FASHION SHOW!!!! As I entered the the showroom at the Orleans I was not prepared for what I was about to see I was like nothing else I've ever been to. The girls came out doing a dance number, then were divided into two groups to do more dances and then to model their formals. They also had a magical act come out and do a show for us when there was some down time. This is definitely the part I am looking forward to the most for next year.
Listening to all the great speeches the girls prepared and learning so much about all the states that were there. At the PRCA luncheon the girls displayed all of their custom made chaps and Miss Rodeo Nebraska was rewarded the chap award. Also at this luncheon the girls were all given a word to talk about for about 45 seconds, this was very interesting because I've never seen this done before.
Time for the Finale as the girls came out doing another dance and then they get in there positions for the top ten to be announced. After Creed talked to each girl in the top ten they narrowed it down to top five. These girls each got a chance to answer the same question and to model one last time. The final two were California and South Dakota with them both waiting to find out who won they finally announced South Dakota as the new Miss Rodeo America. I believe she is going to do a great job this year.
Can't wait for my next trip because I will no longer be lady in waiting I will be Miss Rodeo Washington 2011!!!
